Orbiiit is a Canadian website that organizes art competitions at different times. Participants take part in these competitions and users can vote for their favorite participant in different steps. At the end, the final judges will announce one participant as the winner among the selected users. One of Orbiiit's other value propositions was donating a portion of the revenue from each match to charity.
Desgin Process
The orbit design process was done in 9 steps. In this graph, the size of the circles is made according to the approximate amount of time it takes to complete them.
Brainstorming
After understanding the needs and expectations of the customer, we started holding brainstorming sessions with the design and product team to generate ideas and create standard solutions for this product. After ideation, categorization and prioritization were required, which were the most important parts of this section. For some of the mentioned ideas, we got help from the customer and tried to involve the customer in the product formation process.
Competitor analysis
Market research was one of the steps that we realized its importance before starting the experience and user interface design process. We started checking the competitors. We examined the products that were in the field of charity and competition from different countries. Many documents were made from the benchmark of these products. The required features were prioritized and shared with the client in the document, and after applying the client's feedback, we entered the next stage.
User Persona
For this stage, we required to interview the stakeholders as well as some of the current users of the product. We designed various questionnaires and scenarios so that we could understand the obtained information "for whom we are designing this product".
User Flow
The design of the user flow was done according to the desired features in the initial version for all the product flows. In this process, we tried to double check our processes with the technical team to provide a better view of the final product to the client.
Wireframing & Information Architecture (IA)
In some of the pages of the user flow design that we noticed were problematic for us in the UI design, we designed the IA. We tried to consider the priorities of business and persona and be able to design this bottleneck according to the needs of business and user.
Final UI and Test
In this step, we started researching according to the designed personas and the identity of the product, and then we designed studies of the important pages. After the overall product skin was designed, we added styles and basic components to the project, and we completed the created documents of the UI design based on that.
The testing process was not implemented properly in this product! But with the efforts of the product and design team, design tests were done for the integration of the user experience, and feedback was given to the technical team.
